Evidence for two new systems of blood groups in cattle.

چکیده
I N 1962, STORMONT surveyed 66 known antigenic factors of the red cells of cattle. These factors were designated A, B, C, . . . Z, A’ . . . etc., and a few new ones were designated by number. Peculiar constellations of factors occurred nonrandomly in population data ( STORMONT, OWEN and IRWIN 1951 ) and family studies confirmed the genetic transmission of particular groups of factors as entities. These entities came to be called phenogroups ( STORMONT 1958) and included one or more factors. Phenogroups alternative to each other were interpreted as products of alleles. Where serological association was lacking and independent recombination occurred in the transmission of factors, nonallelic and nonlinked loci were inferred and (immunogenetic) systems named. STORMONT (1958) recognized 11 systems. New data reduced the number of systems, so that STORMONT, MILLER, and SUZUKI (1960) and STORMONT (1961) recognized only nine systems. The present paper indentifies two new systems which had been reported briefly by MILLER (1961).

A molecular study on Babesia spp. in cattle and ticks in West-Azerbaijan province, Iran
A total number of 450 blood samples were collected from 45 different randomly selected cattle herds. Light microscopic examination of blood smears revealed Babesia spp. infection in 4.2%, while 8.9% of blood samples were positive using PCR. Upon multiplex-PCR (mPCR), B. bigemina and B. bovis infections were detected in 37/40 (92.5%) and 3/40 (7.5%) samples, respective...
متن کاملAssociation of Kappa-Casein Gene Polymorphism with some Biochemical Blood Indicators in Guilan Native Cattle of Iran (Bos indicus)
Evaluation of the blood and milk biochemical parameters always is considered as effective key factor for animal health and dairy products. In order to assess the association of kappa-casein (K-CN) genetic variants with blood biochemical indicators, blood samples were randomly and individually collected from 126 Iranian Guilan native cattle. Blood plasma was used to measure blood glucose, urea, ...

This study aimed to assess whether the triethylenetetramine (TETA) is impressed the plasma level of homocysteine (Hcy), total sialic acid (TSA) and cardiac troponin I (cTnI) as cardiovascular diseases risk factors, cystatin c (Cys c) and glucose along with histopathologic changes in alloxan induced diabetes mellitus in rabbit. Twenty number New Zealand white rabbits were assigned for this study...

reducing production and death. The disease in endemic areas would be mild or subclinical in indigenous cattle and clinically acute in exotics. OBJECTIVES: This study was conducted to evaluate the resistance of indigenous cattle in comparison with Holstein and crossbred cattle against Theileria annulata through assessment of clinical signs and response to treatment. METHODS: For this purpose...
متن کاملPolymorphism of Prion Protein Gene (PRNP) in Iranian Holstein and Two Local Cattle Populations (Golpayegani and Sistani) of Iran
Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) is a fatal infectious neurodegenerative disease in cattle, characterized by the accumulation of an abnormal, proteaseresistant prion protein (PrPSc) in the brain. BSE is similar to scrapie in sheep and goats and Creuzfeldt-Jakob disease in humans. Susceptibility in cattle hasbeen shown to be under the influence of two polymorphic locations, which are...
